How to Use a Speculum

Speculum

There's nothing like a speculum to reveal your most intimate area to your partner and add a new dimension to your couple’s play!

Usually used in a medical setting, a speculum can enhance your pleasure sessions and be an extraordinary source of excitement. Featuring two blades that pull apart once inserted into the vagina, the speculum allows you to view and explore your partner’s body in a new way. If you’re an aspiring doctor or masochistic thrill seeker, a speculum will increase the intensity of your sexual gameplay.

1. Get all of your accessories ready

Before your session, you'll need to gather together a few essential tools to ensure that your session goes as smoothly as possible.

  • Gloves: These will make the experience more hygienic for you and your partner.
  • A torch: This will allow you to see every detail of your partner's anatomy.
  • Lube: A water-based lubricant will allow you to insert the speculum smoothly and comfortably.
  • Towel: Place a towel on the bed under your partner to avoid staining the sheets.
  • Medical toys and disguises: To make your session even more realistic, using accessories such as a gown, mask and stethoscope will make you feel like a real doctor!

2. Insert the speculum

  • Ask your partner to lie on her back in the gynaecological position: thighs apart and knees-up. Don't forget to place a pillow under her bottom to make her more comfortable.
  • Check that the speculum is closed and well lubricated.
  • Insert the blades of the speculum (still closed) sideways (i.e. at 90 degrees) into your partner's vagina, then rotate the speculum to insert it correctly. These movements should be very slow and gentle to ensure your partner's comfort and safety.

3. Open the speculum

Open the blades of the speculum slowly. Keep communicating with your partner throughout the procedure and listen to how she’s feeling. Adjust the speculum according to her wishes and follow her instructions to the letter.

4. Explore your partner's body

The experience you're about to have is extraordinary: here are a few suggestions to help you make the most of it.

  • Use the torch: Your visual exploration will be more exciting if you can see every detail.
  • Be gentle: Use your gloved fingers to explore your partner's inner walls. Your movements should be very gentle. Be prepared to stop at the slightest sign of discomfort.
  • Communicate: Keep talking with your partner and always check that she’s still on board with what is going on.

Once you’ve gotten the basics down, you can then start to experiment! Explore some temperature play (heat up or cool down the speculum by plunging it into hot or cold water), invent role-playing games and use other sex toys (e.g. a vibrator) to enjoy even more pleasure together!

5. Remove the speculum

  • Close the speculum: Close the valves blades so as not to cause pain to your partner.
  • Pivot the speculum: Return the speculum to the lateral position (at 90 degrees), as it was at the beginning of the session.
  • Remove the speculum: Remove it very gently and carefully. Check that you are not causing your partner any pain.

6. Clean the speculum

Clean your speculum
Clean the entire speculum with soap and water. This will remove any bacteria. Rinse and air dry. You can also sterilise your speculum if you want to share it with other partners.
